With summertime amongst us, it’s fairly common to see rattlesnakes out and about more often. Rattlesnakes are indigenous to the borderland region, and are seen all around our community. We want to make sure that you, and your furry family members, stay safe. Our Animal Protection Field Operations’ manager, Gina Ramirez is here to give you tips on how you can stay vigilant and what you can do if you ever encounter a rattlesnake.
- When letting out your furry friend, check your yard first.
- When going out for a walk, make sure your pets are on a leash or a harness.
- If you encounter a rattlesnake, turn around and avoid the area, then call 311 for assistance.
Our Animal Protection Officers are here to help. If you live within the El Paso city limits and encounter a rattlesnake on your property, do not hesitate to call 311. And if you or your pet are ever bit by a rattlesnake, seek medical attention right away.
