EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Animal Services is thrilled to announce the upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 21 to April 27, 2024.

The weeklong recognition aims to demonstrate the immense gratitude the City has for its extraordinary volunteers who, last year alone, donated over 38,000 hours of their time, profoundly impacting the lives of countless pets in need.

In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, the department will host a social media takeover, highlighting the remarkable contributions of volunteers through inspiring stories, heartwarming moments, and the impact of volunteers’ work on the lives of shelter pets.

Furthermore, El Paso Animal Services invites the community to join its dedicated team of volunteers. Opportunities are available for individuals ages 14 and older to assist in various ways, such as dog walking, data entry, community service, and more. Additionally, children ages 8-13 are encouraged to participate in volunteer efforts through the department’s Kitty Reading Book Club. This program allows children to practice reading skills while providing essential socialization opportunities for the shelter kitties. Interested parties need only attend an orientation for their respective age group to start their volunteering journey:
