The City of El Paso Animal Services Department, in collaboration with the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department and event sponsor Petco Love, are hosting their third drive-thru pet wellness clinic of the year from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, August 18, at 6500 Bonanza St.

This FREE vaccine and microchip clinic creates accessible opportunities for community pets’ health and safety, that is shown to be especially needed as more than 14,000 animals have already entered El Paso Animal Services’ care this year. Microchipping and vaccinating pets helps to ensure they can be returned home if lost and protects them from deadly diseases endemic to the El Paso region.

The clinic, designed with convenience in mind, operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the first 500 pets. Participants are reminded to keep their pets inside their vehicles throughout the drive-thru clinic. Dogs must be securely leashed, and cats should be placed in a suitable carrier.

At the clinic, all pets will be microchipped, dogs will receive a parvo/distemper vaccination, which protects against two highly contagious and potentially deadly diseases. Cats will receive a feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (FVRCP) vaccination, which protects against three common and potentially fatal diseases in cats. Pets aged six weeks or older are eligible for vaccines; no other pet vaccinations will be available. Rabies vaccinations will not be available during this event.

El Paso Animal Services urges the community to take advantage of this event. By doing so, you are not only minimizing the risk of disease outbreaks but also ensuring a healthier future for your furry companions.
