We joined KTSM 9 News for Mutt Monday! Did you know that New Year’s Eve, like the 4th of July, is one of the top days pets go missing? With over 200 pets entering our shelter every week and over 20,000 this year, we really need the community’s help to keep their pets safe, confined, and at home! Here are some tips to help your furry friends stay safe as we ring in the new year:
- Keep Them Indoors: Fireworks and loud noises can scare pets, causing them to run away.
- Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet area where they can relax away from guests and noise.
- ID is Key: Make sure your pet has a collar with tags in case they get lost.
- Microchip & Update Info: Ensure your pet’s microchip has current contact information. You can verify your pets’ microchip registry company at petmicrochiplookup.org
- Register on PetcoLoveLost.org: This free resource can help reunite you with your pet if they go missing.
- Calming Aids: Talk to your vet about options like calming treats to ease anxiety.
Tune into KTSM 9 News every Monday at 12pm to catch us for another Mutt Monday segment!
