April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, and we’re asking the community to “Stand with Sunny Against Animal Cruelty.”
- El Paso Animal Services and the El Paso Police Department Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit are collaborating for the annual Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month campaign.
- Every April, across the nation, we observe Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, aiming to heighten awareness of the critical challenges animals face. This observance sheds light on the criminal nature of animal abuse and neglect, urging action and compassion.
- Throughout the month, Animal Services and El Paso Police will work to educate the community about how to identify and report types of animal cruelty and neglect, and some of the ways the public can get involved in saving the lives of our pets.
- The community is invited to “Stand with Sunny” in support of animal cruelty prevention by wearing orange ribbons and using orange light bulbs to illuminate their porch in April.
- The two City departments will host lifesaving informational events, issue PSAs, social media posts, conduct neighborhood canvassing and community presentations. Residents will also have multiple opportunities to win giveaways on social media and upcoming events.
