El Paso Animal Services Hosts Free Pet Vaccine Clinic
WHAT: Drive-Thru Pet Wellness Clinic
WHEN: 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025
WHERE: 6500 Bonanza St.
COST: FREE
As summer temperatures climb, so does the risk of dangerous pet diseases. In response, El Paso Animal Services, in collaboration with the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department and Petco Love, will host its second free drive-thru Pet Wellness Clinic of the year from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 6500 Bonanza Dr.
The clinic will provide free core vaccines and microchips to the first 500 pets, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Dogs will receive the parvo/distemper (DAPP) vaccine, and cats will receive the FVRCP vaccine, which protects against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. All pets will also receive a microchip to improve their chances of returning home if lost.
“This event is part of our continued commitment to making pet wellness accessible in our community,” said Terry Kebschull, Director of El Paso Animal Services. “By offering free vaccines and microchips, we’re helping families keep their pets safe, healthy, and at home.”
Veterinarians warn that the risk of infectious diseases increases during the summer. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), warm climates allow viruses like parvovirus in dogs and panleukopenia in cats to spread more rapidly, with cases peaking from May through August across southern states. Timely vaccinations are critical to protecting pets before peak summer heat sets in.
To ensure safety and efficiency, attendees must keep their pets inside their vehicles at all times, with dogs securely leashed and cats placed in carriers. Pets must be at least six weeks old to receive vaccines, and no other vaccinations will be available at this event.
Media are welcome to attend. Interview and photo opportunities will be available onsite.
