Humane Education Camps, Classes & Workshops
El Paso Animal Services offers year-round educational programs designed to help families better understand animal behavior and create safer, more positive interactions with pets at home.
Our workshops teach:
• How to recognize early stress signals in pets
• Consent-based, fear-free pet handling
• How to set up safe, calming spaces in the home
• Ways to provide enrichment and keep pets mentally engaged
Many sessions also include hands-on projects like making enrichment toys, cat shelters, and other items that directly support animals in our care and in our community.
Before registering your child for any PAWtastic Camps, Workshops, or Classes, please read through the Essential Capabilities here. If any participants are not able to adhere to the capabilities listed, please ensure to list any accommodations as you register your child.

Children’s guide to dog bite prevention for children between 4 and 6 year’s old.
Our Humane Education Team will teach your child skills that will help them be safer around their pets and other dogs they don’t know. We use fun materials that will help your child learn how to recognize safe vs unsafe behavior in dogs, how to safely approach a dog and how to be kind their pet.
Canine Fun Time Camp – After School Program
Our Canine Fun Time Camp offer students in-shelter, hands-on programming after school. Campers in grades 6th, 7th and 8th will have age-appropriate curriculum and learning objectives. Through crafts, games, and exercising our dogs, campers will be able to explore how we care for our animals, how to be safe around them and how to take care of their own pets at home. Each day will have a different lesson, if you’d like your child to attend multiple days, please register for days offered. This is also a great opportunity for students to start earning volunteer hours!

Humane Animal Practices & Bite Prevention
Keeping the Relationship Safe Between your Child and your Pet. We never want bad things to happen to our children especially when it involves the family pet. Our children do not think that a cuddly dog will ever bite them, but according to KidsHealth 4.7 million dogs’ bites happen every year in the United States. Understanding dog body language is a key way to prevent a dog bite. In this class, parents will be able to recognize dog behavior, dog body language, consent between child and pet.
This class is developed for parents and guardians wanting to learn bite prevention skills for their children, but we welcome anyone ages 18 years and older.
