Press Release: El Paso Urged to Foster for the Holidays as Shelter Kennels Fill Up

Kennels of El Paso Animal Services are filling up with nearly 500 pets already being housed in the shelter. As the holidays near, Animal Services is asking the community to lend a helping hand to these homeless pets by becoming a foster.

Animal Services’ Foster Program is completely free and foster families are provided all the food, supplies, and medical care needed. All a foster family provides is a temporary loving home for a pet, or pets, in need. Foster families will typically care for a pet for a period of two to four weeks. Those interested in becoming a foster can register online at www.elpasoanimalservices.org/foster.

After registering online, foster counseling and processing is then completed over the phone and by curbside service, minimizing contact for customers and staff.

So far this year, nearly 2,000 families have registered to become fosters, caring for more than 2,470 shelter pets.

For families ready to make a long-term commitment, our Adoption Program is still processing adoptions via virtual and curbside service. To view available pets, visit www.elpasoanimalservices.org/adopt.
