Press Release: Court Awards City of El Paso Animal Services Custody of Canine Following Animal Abuse Investigation

El Paso, Texas—Last week, the El Paso Animal Services Animal Protection Officers were awarded custody of a canine, Hershey, in reference to an animal abuse and neglect case.

An investigation revealed that the dog had been abandoned inside a home for a period of time without proper access to food and water to maintain the animal in a good state of health.

The court determined that the animal was cruelly treated by abandonment, in which the previous owners were divested of ownership and ordered to pay $225 in fines.

During the investigation, Hershey underwent a medical evaluation and was placed in protective custody with El Paso Animal Services.

The City was awarded full custody of Hershey and she has been transferred to rescue partners, Law ‘N’ Paws, where she will be available for adoption.
