Vet Science Program Recognized for Outstanding Contribution to Education

El Paso, Texas – El Paso Animal Services is proud to announce that it has been bestowed with the prestigious Education Empowerment Award by the Socorro Independent School District (SISD). This significant recognition is a testament to El Paso Animal Services’ exceptional contributions to the community through its Vet Science Program, which has truly made a difference in the lives of many.

The Vet Science Program, a transformative collaboration between El Paso Animal Services and area high schools that provides life-changing hands-on experiences to the students. Students from Pebble Hills, El Dorado, Eastlake, Clint, Bel Air, and Ysleta High Schools actively participate in the program, gaining invaluable skills and knowledge. They assist with various tasks such as walking dogs, interacting with cats, ensuring the cleanliness and comfort of kennels, creating enrichment items, and helping at offsite events, all of which contribute to their personal and professional growth.

In addition to practical experience, students enrolled in the Vet Science Program learn about microchipping, administering vaccines, and shelter medicine, preparing them for future careers as veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students who have contributed to the success of the Vet Science Program,” said Terry Kebschull, Director of El Paso Animal Services. “We are committed to providing enriching educational experiences for the next generation of veterinary professionals.”

In 2018, the Education Empowerment Award was received, underscoring El Paso Animal Services’ ongoing commitment to creating a brighter future for animals and aspiring young professionals.
